At Plasticoid, we are a premier provider of custom molded rubber components. Our team can manufacture various custom rubber parts and products from a variety of formulations to exacting specifications using compression, transfer, and injection molding processes. We also maintain a stock of standard rubber ingredients for quick delivery.

We offer a range of custom rubber component services to ensure our customers receive the pieces they need when they need them. In addition to in-house design and prototyping, we maintain material mixing capabilities, so we always have the rubber compounds needed for customer applications.

What Is Material Mixing?

Material mixing refers to the process in which the individual raw materials for a specific rubber formulation are combined. The result is a cured uniform rubber compound with the characteristics needed for the desired part or product. It is a critical step for many rubber manufacturing projects since specific material properties are often needed to ensure a component operates or performs as intended within its application environment. For example, some applications may require chemical or extreme temperature resistance, while others may require latex-free formulations.

Our Material Mixing Capabilities

We offer in-house material mixing options as well as outside contract material mixing houses, to ensure we have the ability to meet the most stringent quality demands efficiently.  Our 75 Years of experience enables us to match the right materials to the project quickly and  alleviates the pressure on customers to specify the exact materials required at the beginning of the project. It can also save them time and money by reducing material costs and lead times for projects.

We can make many standard rubber compounds with natural and latex-free materials for in-house use. All materials created are unique to our company. We keep the recipes as trade secrets and do not share them with other companies.  We maintain a DMF with the FDA for applications that have regulatory oversight.

The rubber materials we can make include:

  • EPDM
  • Fluoroelastomers
  • Latex-free
  • Natural rubber
  • Neoprene
  • Nitrile
  • SBR
  • Silicone
  • Viton

They can be formulated to have a range of characteristics, such as:

  • Abrasion resistance
  • Acid resistance
  • Alcohol resistance
  • Alkali resistance
  • Compression set
  • Conductivity
  • Custom colors
  • Fuel oil and LP gas safe construction
  • Low gas permeation
  • Oxidation resistance
  • Ozone resistance
  • Radiation resistance
  • Sunlight resistance
  • Water resistance

Our in-house mixing experts have the knowledge to assist customers with material selection. They can provide recommendations and data sheets upon request.

Standard & Custom Rubber Stoppers and Plugs

We are a leading manufacturer of elastomeric closures. We make them in a variety of shapes and styles to suit the requirements and restrictions of various industries. The process of making them can include a number of processes, including:

  • Compression rubber molding
  • Transfer rubber molding
  • Thermoplastic injection molding
  • Precision die cutting
  • Cryogenic de-flashing
  • Custom compound and material development

We carry many standard materials, including silicone and hard rubber, for use in our closure products. However, we also can make custom compounds for closures intended for use in demanding environments. From biocompatibility to chemical resistance to high-temperature resistance, we can create a rubber material to suit nearly any closure application.
